Japan Rail East pass

The JR East Flexi Pass is the easiest way to explore Eastern Japan by train, allowing you to journey at your leisure from one station to the next.

Take the train any 5 day within a period of 14 days.
- Passholders can travel in the reserved section in Ordinary Class on trains including the Shinkansen "bullet trains", Express and Local trains on JR East lines.
- Access to the Izu-Kyuko line, the Hokuetsu-Kyuko line, the Aoimori Railway line, the Iwate Galaxy Railway (IGR) line, the Tokyo Monorail line, the Sendai Airport Transit line.
- Also includes access to the Limited Express trains "Nikko", "Spacia Nikko", "Kinugawa" and "Spacia Kinugawa" operating through the JR East lines and the non-JR Tobu line.
- In addition, the Tokyo Waterfront Area Rapid Transit (Rinkai Line), previously unavailable to JR East Passholders, is now covered under this pass.
- Not valid on Green cars, private compartments, sleeper trains, liner and Home liner trains.

Available in Adult or Child (age 6 to 11 years) rates.

The JR East Flexi Pass is available exclusively for visitors from abroad (non-Japanese nationals) who enter Japan under the entry status of "Temporary Visitor" which is valid for 90 days or less. The passport and the entry status will be checked at the time of exchange and purchase. One JR East Pass may be purchased, per passenger, per stay in Japan.

We make a £15 cover charge per booking and will then send you an exchange voucher so you are all prepared for your travels. Collecting your Japan East railpass on arrival in Japan is easy, and the collection locations can be found here. Please remember, it is not possible to purchase Japan rail passes when you are there!

In order to issue the pass we will require each passengers full name, date of birth and passport number.

Seats can be reserved without extra charge. Visit the website "JR-EAST Shinkansen Reservation" for JR EAST Shinkansen and major Limited Express Train in advance using the internet.
Reservations cannot be made for the Tokaido & Sanyo Shinkansen, or for the Kyushu Shinkansen. This site is not available for tickets to Nagoya, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima and other cities on those lines.

Conditions of use

VALIDITY:
A JR East Flexi Pass is valid any 5 days within a period of 14 days, starting from the day the pass is issued. Upon booking, you receive an e-ticket that must be exchanged locally. The JR East Flexi Pass will expire:
after 5 days of use or;
after 14 days of validity regardless of whether all travel days were used or;
the day after April 13th, 2014 (as passes are on sale until March 31st, 2014).

REFUNDS: Passengers may obtain a refund for the e-ticket at the office or travel agent that issued it within one year from the issue according to the regulation of each sales office. A JR East Flexi Pass can be refunded at the nearest JR East Pass exchange office in Japan only before the first date of use, with a 10% handling fee deducted from the refund. No refund can be made for any reason after the first date of use. A JR East Flexi Pass cannot be refunded or extended due to interruptions in train service, late departures or any other reasons.

FEES AND CHARGES:
A seat can be reserved without extra charge. Visit a JR East Travel Service Center or JR Ticket Office (Midori-no-madoguchi) in advance and present the pass.

LOST TICKETS:
E-tickets and passes cannot be reissued if lost or stolen.

How to Exchange your E-ticket
The JR East Pass needs to be collected at one of the exchange offices in East Japan within 3 months from the travel date in the PNR. Passengers will need to have a valid paper or e-ticket and a valid passport with the entry status of "Temporary Visitor".
